Course Introduction
This beginner-level French course is designed for school students who are learning French for the first time. Using the engaging and student-friendly Zoom textbook, the course builds a strong foundation in essential vocabulary, pronunciation, and basic grammar through interactive activities, dialogues, and cultural insights.
The course is divided into two parts:
- 1 (Month 1): Focuses on introductions, numbers, family, classroom language, and simple daily expressions.
- 2 (Month 2): Expands to topics such as home, city, food, clothing, and weather, while developing conversational skills and confidence.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the A1 level course, students will be able to:
- Introduce themselves and others using correct greetings and basic personal information.
- Understand and use basic vocabulary related to everyday topics such as school, family, food, and hobbies.
- Ask and answer simple questions about daily routines, preferences, and surroundings.
- Read and comprehend short texts and dialogues in French.
- Write basic sentences and short paragraphs using familiar vocabulary and structures.
- Participate in simple conversations and role-plays with correct pronunciation.
- Gain cultural awareness of French-speaking countries and customs.
- Present a short oral project confidently in front of an audience using the learned content.
Part 1: A1.1 (Month 1)
Objective: Build foundational French skills – greetings, introductions, basic questions, and classroom vocabulary.
Week 1: Introductions & Classroom Basics
- Lesson 1: Bonjour ! Je m’appelle… (Greetings, names, formal/informal)
- Lesson 2: L’alphabet français, prononciation
- Lesson 3: Les objets de la classe (Classroom items)
Week 2: Numbers, Colors & Nationalities
- Lesson 4: Les chiffres (1–31), les couleurs
- Lesson 5: Les jours de la semaine, les mois de l’année
- Lesson 6: Les pays et nationalités (être + adjectives)
Week 3: Family & Personal Details
- Lesson 7: La famille (mère, père, frère, sœur…)
- Lesson 8: Les âges, professions simples (avoir + vocab)
- Lesson 9: Décrire quelqu’un (adjectifs de description)
Week 4: Daily Routines & Review
- Lesson 10: Les activités du quotidien (se lever, manger, aller à l’école)
- Lesson 11: Review Game / Dialogue Practice
- Lesson 12: Mini Project: “Ma famille et moi” (Presentation)
✅ Assessment: Vocabulary quiz + oral practice + written paragraph
Part 2: A1.2 (Month 2)
Objective: Strengthen communication skills with more verbs, sentence structures, and conversation practice.
Week 1: Home & City
- Lesson 1: Ma maison / mon appartement (rooms, furniture)
- Lesson 2: La ville – magasins, endroits publics
- Lesson 3: Les prépositions de lieu (dans, sur, sous, entre…)
Week 2: Weather, Clothes & Hobbies
- Lesson 4: Quel temps fait-il ? (weather vocab + expressions)
- Lesson 5: Les vêtements + saisons
- Lesson 6: Les loisirs – cinéma, sport, musique
Week 3: Food & Daily Dialogues
- Lesson 7: Les repas, les aliments (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
- Lesson 8: Aller au café (ordering food, polite expressions)
- Lesson 9: Dialogue practice – real-life simulations
Week 4: Review & Presentation
- Lesson 10: Review through games & storytelling
- Lesson 11: Final assessment preparation
- Lesson 12: Final Presentation: “Mon journal quotidien” (My Daily Journal – written + oral)
✅ Assessment: Written test + oral interview + final presentation
Using the “Zoom” Textbook
Duration: 2 Months (Divided into A1.1 and A1.2)
Schedule: 3 days per week | 1.5 hours per class
