Course Introduction
This beginner-level German course is designed for young students with no prior experience in German. Using the child-friendly and engaging “Zoom” textbook, the course builds foundational skills in vocabulary, sentence structure, and pronunciation. Students will explore topics through songs, stories, role-plays, and games, while also gaining exposure to German culture.
The course is divided into two parts:
• A1.1 (Month 1): Focuses on greetings, numbers, family, school, and classroom language.
• A1.2 (Month 2): Covers home, city life, weather, food, clothing, and basic conversations.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the A1 level course, students will be able to:
- Greet others and introduce themselves in German.
- Use vocabulary related to school, family, numbers, and colors.
- Form and answer simple questions using basic sentence structures.
- Read short texts and dialogues with correct pronunciation.
- Write short sentences and complete simple writing tasks.
- Engage in basic conversations about daily life and preferences.
- Recognize key cultural elements from German-speaking countries.
- Deliver a short oral presentation in German using learned vocabulary.
Part 1: A1.1 (Month 1)
Objective: Build foundational German skills – introductions, classroom terms, and everyday vocabulary.
Week 1: Greetings & Classroom Basics
- Lesson 1: Hallo! Ich heiße… (Greetings, names, polite forms)
- Lesson 2: Das Alphabet & Aussprache (Alphabet & pronunciation)
- Lesson 3: Im Klassenzimmer (Classroom items & phrases)
Week 2: Numbers, Colors & Days
- Lesson 4: Zahlen von 1 bis 31 (Numbers 1–31)
- Lesson 5: Die Wochentage und Monate (Days & months)
- Lesson 6: Farben und Formen (Colors and shapes)
Week 3: Family & Personal Information
- Lesson 7: Meine Familie (Family vocabulary & tree)
- Lesson 8: Alter und Beruf (Age and basic professions)
- Lesson 9: Aussehen und Charakter (Appearance & description)
Week 4: Daily Routine & Review
- Lesson 10: Mein Tagesablauf (Daily routines with verbs)
- Lesson 11: Revision and speaking practice
- Lesson 12: Mini project: “Das bin ich und meine Familie”
✅ Assessment: Vocabulary quiz + oral dialogue + short written paragraph
Part 2: A1.2 (Month 2)
Objective: Expand vocabulary and confidence through common topics and interactive conversation.
Week 1: Home & Around Town

- Lesson 2: In der Stadt – Orte & Geschäfte (Shops and places)
- Lesson 3: Wo ist das? (Prepositions of place)
Week 2: Weather, Clothes & Hobbies
- Lesson 4: Wie ist das Wetter? (Weather expressions)
- Lesson 5: Kleidung & Jahreszeiten (Clothing and seasons)
- Lesson 6: Freizeit – Hobbys und Aktivitäten (Leisure and hobbies)
Week 3: Food & Conversations
- Lesson 7: Das Essen – Frühstück, Mittagessen (Meals & foods)
- Lesson 8: Im Restaurant (Ordering and polite phrases)
- Lesson 9: Alltagssituationen – Mini-Dialoge (Everyday dialogues)
Week 4: Review & Final Presentation
- Lesson 10: Spiele, Geschichten und Wiederholung
- Lesson 11: Final review and assessment prep
