Course Introduction
This beginner-level Korean course is designed for school students with no prior background in Korean. Using the lively and student-centered “Zoom” textbook, the course introduces basic Korean reading, speaking, and writing through songs, role-plays, visual aids, and games. Special focus is placed on learning Hangul (Korean alphabet), essential vocabulary, and cultural aspects of Korea.
The course is divided into two parts:
• A1.1 (Month 1): Focuses on learning Hangul, greetings, numbers, classroom and family vocabulary.
• A1.2 (Month 2): Covers home, weather, food, city life, and everyday conversation building.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the A1 level course, students will be able to:
- Read and write basic Korean using Hangul.
- Greet others and introduce themselves using appropriate expressions.
- Use everyday vocabulary related to school, family, and routines.
- Understand and apply simple sentence structures and grammar patterns.
- Ask and answer questions about daily life.
- Engage in short conversations and dialogues.
- Recognize aspects of Korean culture, holidays, and customs.
- Deliver a short spoken project using vocabulary and expressions learned.
Part 1: A1.1 (Month 1)
Objective: Learn Hangul, basic phrases, classroom terms, and personal vocabulary.
Week 1: Hangul & Greetings
- Lesson 1: 한글 배우기 1 (Learning Hangul: Consonants & vowels)
- Lesson 2: 한글 배우기 2 (Reading simple syllables)
- Lesson 3: 인사말 (Greetings: 안녕하세요, 감사합니다)
Week 2: Numbers, Classroom & Calendar
- Lesson 4: 숫자 1–30 / 나이 말하기 (Numbers & age)
- Lesson 5: 교실 물건 (Classroom objects and commands)
- Lesson 6: 요일과 월 (Days of the week and months)
Week 3: Family & Descriptions
- Lesson 7: 우리 가족 (Family vocabulary & relationships)
- Lesson 8: 나이, 직업, 국적 (Age, job, nationality)
- Lesson 9: 친구를 소개해요 (Describing people)
Week 4: Daily Life & Review
- Lesson 10: 하루 일과 (Daily routines: 일어나요, 먹어요)
- Lesson 11: 복습 게임 / 말하기 연습
- Lesson 12: 미니 프로젝트: “나와 내 가족”
✅ Assessment: Vocabulary quiz + Hangul reading + oral activity + writing task
Part 2: A1.2 (Month 2)
Objective: Expand vocabulary and fluency through daily life topics and practical expressions.
Week 1: Home & Locations
- Lesson 1: 우리 집 – 방과 가구 (Rooms and furniture)
- Lesson 2: 동네와 도시 (Shops, park, school, public places)
- Lesson 3: 어디 있어요? (Location words and prepositions)
Week 2: Weather, Clothing & Hobbies
- Lesson 4: 날씨 어때요? (Weather vocabulary and phrases)
- Lesson 5: 옷과 계절 (Clothing and seasons)
- Lesson 6: 취미 활동 (Hobbies: 음악, 운동, 책 읽기)
Week 3: Food & Everyday Dialogues
- Lesson 7: 음식과 식사 시간 (Meals and food items)
- Lesson 8: 식당에서 주문하기 (Ordering food and polite phrases)
- Lesson 9: 대화 연습 (Mini-dialogues and practice)
Week 4: Final Review & Presentation
- Lesson 10: 복습 게임과 스토리텔링
- Lesson 11: 발표 준비
- Lesson 12: 발표회: “나의 하루” (My Daily Life Presentation)
