    Course Introduction

    This beginner-level graphic design course introduces students to the world of digital creativity using Adobe Photoshop. Aimed at young learners aged 11–13, the course focuses on fun, hands-on design projects that develop basic photo editing, digital illustration, and creative thinking skills. Students will learn how to use tools, layers, text, color, and effects to create posters, cards, logos, and digital art.

    The course is divided into two structured parts:

    • GD A1.1 (Month 1): Core tools, workspace basics, and simple projects like posters and photo edits.
    • GD A1.2 (Month 2): More creative design work including logos, collages, effects, and personal portfolio pieces.

    Level: Beginners
    Duration: 2 Months (Split into Part 1 – GD A1.1 and Part 2 – GD A1.2)
    Schedule: 3 days per week | 1.5 hours per class

    Learning Outcomes

    By the end of this Photoshop Basics course, students will be able to:

    1. Navigate the Photoshop interface and use essential tools.
    2. Create and edit images using layers, brushes, and selection tools.
    3. Add and style text, shapes, and backgrounds.
    4. Use filters and effects to enhance photos and designs.
    5. Design posters, cards, and social media graphics.
    6. Understand image formats, resolution, and exporting.
    7. Develop a mini portfolio of their design work.
    8. Present and explain their creative process and results.

    Part 1: GD A1.1 (Month 1)

    Objective: Understand Photoshop tools and create basic design projects using text, shapes, and images.

    Week 1: Getting Started with Photoshop

    • Lesson 1: Exploring the Interface and Tools Panel
    • Lesson 2: Working with Layers & Basic Shapes
    • Lesson 3: Saving Projects & File Formats

    Week 2: Posters & Basic Editing

    • Lesson 4: Create a “My Name Poster” using Text + Graphics
    • Lesson 5: Cropping, Resizing, and Simple Photo Retouching
    • Lesson 6: Color Fill, Gradient Tool, and Background Replacement

    Week 3: Working with Text & Graphics

    • Lesson 7: Fonts, Word Art, and Layer Styles
    • Lesson 8: Create a Birthday Card or Greeting Graphic
    • Lesson 9: Use Brushes and Custom Shapes

    Week 4: Review & Mini Project

    • Lesson 10: Review Tools + Design Tips
    • Lesson 11: Project Creation – “My Dream Poster”
    • Lesson 12: Presentation: Poster Design Showcase

    Assessment: File export + tool checklist + visual creativity review

    Part 2: GD A1.2 (Month 2)

    Objective: Apply learned tools to creative projects like logos, effects, and personal portfolios.

    • Lesson 5: Create a Personal Logo or Game Icon
    • Lesson 6: Save for Web & Transparent Backgrounds

    Week 3: Creative Projects & Digital Art

    • Lesson 7: Combine Text + Image to Make a Meme or Poster
    • Lesson 8: Color Correction & Adjustment Layers
    • Lesson 9: Create a Social Media Post (e.g., event announcement)

    Week 4: Final Portfolio & Presentation

    • Lesson 10: Collect Your Best Work – Create a Portfolio Slide
    • Lesson 11: Prepare to Present Projects
    • Lesson 12: Final Showcase: “My Design Journey”

    Assessment: Portfolio submission + live explanation + design rubric
